Carmel Bird is one of Australia’s most innovative prose writers. Among her attributes, Carmel has been a teacher of English and French in secondary schools, a literary reviewer, a visiting university lecturer, a judge of literary competitions and has conducted numerous short courses and workshops in creative writing. She has written novels, essays, short story collections and books about the art of writing. She has been shortlisted for various literary awards and in 2016 she was awarded the Patrick White Award.
