About The Author
Brian Michael Bendis
Brian Michael Bendis is an award-winning comic-book creator and one of the most successful writers in the industry today. In addition to an acclaimed run on Daredevil, he has helmed a renaissance for Marvel’s popular Avengers franchise and written the event projects House of M, Secret War, Secret Invasion, Siege, Age of Ultron and Civil War II. Bendis wrote every issue of Ultimate Spider-Man from its launch in 2000 before bringing his multiracial Spider-Man, Miles Morales, to the Marvel Universe for continuing adventures. He took on Marvel’s mutants in the pages of All-New X-Men and Uncanny X-Men, and launched Guardians of the Galaxy into the stratosphere. Bendis shook up the life of Tony Stark in Invincible Iron Man and related titles, introducing Riri Williams as Ironheart, and then assembled street-level heroes Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil and his co-creation Jessica Jones in Defenders. His creator-owned projects include Scarlet with Alex Maleev, Brilliant with Mark Bagley, and Takio and the Eisner Award-winning Powers with Michael Avon Oeming.
Sara Pichelli worked in the animation industry as a storyboard artist and character designer before taking a chance in the comics business. After breaking in in her native Italy, she was a layout assistant for David Messina on Star Trek for IDW. In 2008, she was one of the winners of the ChesterQuest International Talent Search and has since worked for Marvel Comics on such titles as NYX, Runaways, Eternals, X-Men- Pixie Strikes Back and Namora. She joined writer Brian Michael Bendis on Ultimate Spider-Man, and together the pair introduced the new Spider-Man, Miles Morales, in the pages of Ultimate Fallout and Ultimate Comics Spider-Man. They continued Miles’ adventures in Spider-Man, and paired him with Peter Parker in Spider-Men and Spider-Men II. Pichelli reunited with Bendis on Guardians of the Galaxy.
Mark Bagley rose to prominence as the artist of 1990s sleeper hit New Warriors. Following an acclaimed run on Amazing Spider-Man, he worked with writer Kurt Busiek on Thunderbolts. When Marvel launched its Ultimate line, Bagley and Brian Michael Bendis led the way with Ultimate Spider-Man, whose years of success made the pair the longest-running creative team in Marvel history. Bendis and Bagley have also collaborated on Avengers Assemble and the creator-owned Brilliant. His subsequent credits include Fantastic Four, Cataclysm- The Ultimates’ Last Stand, Hulk, All-New X-Men and Venom.
Bill Sienkiewicz has had a major impact on the comic-book field with his innovative blend of collage, illustration techniques and storytelling. His influential work has garnered industry-wide acclaim and earned him nearly every major comic-book illustration award in the United States and abroad. His credits include a groundbreaking collaboration with Chris Claremont on New Mutants; Elektra- Assassin, for which he received the prestigious Yellow Kid Award; the Marvel Graphic Novel Daredevil- Love and War; and the critically acclaimed Stray Toasters, which he wrote and illustrated. In addition to his work in the comic-book industry, Sienkiewicz has added his talents to TV and movie projects, including the film Unforgiven and the animated series Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?, for which he received two Emmy nominations. Sienkiewicz was also selected to produce the artwork for the critically acclaimed painted biography Voodoo Child- The Illustrated Legend of Jimi Hendrix, published by Viking Press. He divides his time between comic books and classic illustration, with his work continuing to inspire a new generation of innovative artists.
Michael Allred established himself as a leading creative force in the industry with his creation Madman, which earned him three Eisner Award nominations and a Harvey Award win for Best New Series. He first came to Marvel in 2001, helping relaunch the pop-inspired and acclaimed X-Force (later X-Statix). He illustrated The Golden Plates, an adaptation of the Book of Mormon, and began a new Madman series, Madman Atomic Comics, for Image Comics. Allred and Neil Gaiman created the Metamorpho story in DC Comics’ Eisner and Harvey Award-winning Wednesday Comics, while his DC/Vertigo collaboration with Chris Roberson, iZOMBIE, was adapted into a TV series. He returned to Marvel with FF and then Silver Surfer. Allred is also an accomplished filmmaker, actor and singer/guitarist for The Gear.
