About The Author
Beverley Farmer
Beverley Farmer (1941–2018) was the author of the novels Alone, The Seal Woman, and The House in the Light, which was shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Literary Award, and of four collections of short stories, including Milk, which won the NSW Premier’s Award for Fiction. She is also known for the writer’s notebook A Body of Water, and The Bone House, a collection of essays on the life of the body and the life of the mind. Her last work of fiction, This Water: Five Tales, was longlisted for the Stella Prize. In 2009 Farmer received the Patrick White Award for her contribution to Australian Literature.
