Allison Lawrence is a nutritionist with a lifelong passion for cooking. Born in a small town in Maryland on August 30, 1971, she began working in the kitchen alongside her grandmother from a young age. From childhood and throughout her teenage years, she played many sports, including volley, tennis, and rhythmic gymnastics, also earning several national and international awards. Her passion for sports taught her the basics of a healthy lifestyle, which combined with her passion for cooking, led her to graduate with a degree in food science, becoming a nutritionist in 1997.In 2012, her mother was stricken with type 2 diabetes, and Allison began using her medical knowledge and culinary skills to create meals that could help her overcome her condition, which she continues to do to this day. Shortly after she began caring for her mother, she decided to start writing books and cookbooks on different types of diets to help others learn to eat healthier without having to give up the pleasure of good food. Today, she continues to test new recipes every day - together with her mother - to help her patients and to include in her beloved cookbooks.
