Professor Alexandre Chagnes

Professor Alexandre Chagnes possesses a deep expertise in electrochemistry and hydrometallurgy. His career has spanned research and academic positions in both France and Canada. He served as an Associate Professor at Chimie Paristech from 2005 to 2016. Since 2016, he has held the position of Full Professor at Université de Lorraine. Within Université de Lorraine, he has undertaken significant leadership roles, including Director of the national network on extractive metallurgy and Director of the Research Program on Circular Economy. Professor Chagnes is also the founder of the start-up WEEEMET, which is dedicated to developing innovative metal recycling processes. His research interests are primarily focused on the recycling of lithium-ion batteries and electronic waste, areas where he has made substantial contributions through numerous publications and presentations.

Dr. Jolanta Światowska

Dr. Jolanta Światowska is a distinguished CNRS Research Director at the Institut de Recherche de Chimie Paris, a position she has held since 2008. She also serves as the deputy director of the Doctoral School of Physical and Analytical Chemistry. Dr. Światowska earned her PhD in Metallurgy from the AGH University in Poland in 2003. She is an active member of several professional societies and provides her expertise as a scientific expert for the European Commission and various national funding institutions. Her research endeavors concentrate on surface chemistry, corrosion, and electrochemistry, employing advanced analytical techniques such as X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy. Dr. Światowska has authored over 100 scientific papers and presented her work at more than 125 conferences. She has also been involved in collaborative projects focused on energy storage materials.
