Josephine Chia
Josephine Chia is the author of Queen of the Sky, her second children’s book published by Penguin Random House SEA. She is passionate about listening to and creating stories, finding joy in the imaginative realm of writing.
Chia has authored twelve books, encompassing both fiction and non-fiction, published in the UK and Singapore. Her work often draws inspiration from her childhood in a kampong, her Peranakan heritage, culinary experiences, yoga, and Singapore’s rich history.
In Emman, Time Traveller : The Redhill Tragedy, she reimagines a tale from the Sejarah Melayu (Malay Annals), blending historical narrative with contemporary elements to craft an exciting adventure. Her book, Goodbye My Kampong, serves as a sequel to her 2014 Singapore Literature Prize-winning work, Kampong Spirit, Gotong Royong. Additionally, her young adult novel, Big Tree in a Small Pot, was honored with the 2019 Singapore Book Awards for Best Middle Grade/Young Adult Title.
