Critics Review
“Ellen Hunter Gans writes with a humble self-deprecation that is juxtaposed by her remarkable accomplishments. Seven Marathons. Seven Continents. One Week. takes on an unforgettable journey of exploration, discovery and triumph. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t stop turning the pages to see what unfolded next!”
—Dean Karnazes, ultramarathoner and New York Times bestselling author
“This unforgettable book is a phenomenally uplifting example of what happens when ordinary people say yes to extraordinary things. Ellen takes readers on a journey, not of podium finishes or personal bests, but of shared humanity at its rawest, most ridiculous, and most beautiful.”
—Chrissie Wellington, OBE, four-time IRONMAN® Triathlon World Champion
Ellen Hunter Gans
Ellen Hunter Gans is an Ironman triathlete, ultramarathon champion, and 40-time marathon finisher. She famously completed seven marathons on seven continents in one week as part of the Great World Race, running four of those marathons with a venomous spider bite she initially mistook for a torn ligament.
Based in the Twin Cities, Ellen is a freelance writer with over 15 years of experience helping major brands craft their narratives. She holds advanced degrees from the London School of Economics and the University of Southern California.
Ellen lives with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), a genetic connective tissue disorder that is considered wholly incompatible with running. She approaches her life and challenges with the belief that limits are often just suggestions that speak too loudly.
