About The Author
Nisioisin
NISIOISIN is one of Japan’s most successful authors. Born in 1981, he left Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto to pursue a career in storytelling. Initially aiming to be a comic artist, he focused on writing after realizing his art was not strong enough. He won the 23rd Mephisto Prize for Kubikiri Cycle, recognizing his talent as a mystery writer at age 20. Since his 2002 debut, he has written over 50 novels and numerous comics.
Nishio’s works often explore themes of youth within familiar genres, blending mystery with comedy and elements of romance and/or the supernatural. He is a modern author who sometimes experiments with the Japanese language itself. Many of his works have been adapted into animated television series and films. His best-known works include the Monogatari series and Katanagatari.
