Osamu Tezuka
Born November 3rd, 1928, in Osaka, Osamu Tezuka grew up in a liberal household where he was exposed to both manga and the works of Walt Disney. His childhood fascination with insects would later influence his professional life, as he incorporated the ideogram for “insect” into his pen name.
Tezuka’s wartime experiences instilled in him a profound appreciation for the value of life. This led him to pursue a career in medicine, and he eventually earned his physician’s license. However, his passion for manga and animated film writing ultimately guided him to choose those as his primary professions.
