Liam Gillick is a British-born artist based in New York, known for his work in architecture, sculpture, video, and word art. His practice explores concepts of labor, time, and color, utilizing his unique understanding of exhibition as a medium. Gillick began this approach in the 1990s and has since exhibited internationally, with solo shows at prominent institutions such as the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, Gwangju Museum of Art in Korea, Madre Museum in Naples, Serralves Museum in Porto, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and Tate in London. He has also been a consistent contributor to international biennials, including Documenta Kassel, Istanbul Biennial, the German Pavilion at the Venice Biennial, and the 1st Vilnius Biennial of Performance Art.
