About The Author

Cormac McCarthy

Cormac McCarthy was born in Rhode Island on July 20, 1933. He was raised Roman Catholic and attended Catholic High School in Knoxville. He then went to the University of Tennessee from 1951-1952, majoring in liberal arts.

McCarthy joined the U.S. Air Force in 1953 and served for four years, with two of those years stationed in Alaska, where he hosted a radio show. After several jobs and much traveling, he settled down to write several prize-winning novels, including:

  • No Country for Old Men
