Amir Khan first stepped into a boxing gym at the age of eight. He competed in his initial three bouts for Bolton Boxing Club before moving on to fight for Bury Boxing Club. By the age of sixteen, he had accumulated an impressive record, securing three schoolboy championships, three junior ABA championships, a gold medal at the Junior Olympics, and ultimately, a gold medal at the European Student Championships held in Lithuania.
On a regional level, Khan held the Commonwealth lightweight title from 2007 to 2008, followed by the WBC Silver welterweight title from 2014 to 2016. Amir Khan officially announced his retirement from professional boxing in May 2022.
Beyond his boxing career, Amir Khan is a dedicated philanthropist, leading his own charity organisation, The Amir Khan Foundation. He has also ventured into reality television, starring in ‘Meet the Khans: Big in Bolton’ alongside his wife, Faryal.
