Critics Review
“When Your Partner Has Bipolar Disorder is a comprehensive and easy-to-read resource for the loved ones of those navigating bipolar disorder. It is a much-needed practical guide that offers valuable tools and tips which support the reader. Dr. Selig’s work will benefit many patients and their families. I highly recommend this book!” –Allison Shapiro, Ph.D., licensed clinical psychologist
“Dr. Selig’s book synthesizes complex ideas and organizes them into a digestible, thoughtful, and practical book. It is clear that the author genuinely understands the challenges that loved ones face in navigating the impact of bipolar disorder on their partner, their family, and themselves. This book should be required reading.” –Timothy Barry, LCSW
“While this book is designed for the partners of people with bipolar disorder, the powerful insights and practical tools here would be helpful to anyone coping with a loved one’s mental health issues. Dr. Selig writes with remarkable clarity and warmth. While providing up-to-date descriptions and analysis of the various forms of bipolar disorder and how it can be treated with the help of professionals, he also moves deftly and sympathetically between the experience of the person who has bipolar disorder and that of their partner. There is no judgment here, just a compassionate understanding of how human beings, with all their complexity and contradictions, behave and feel.” –Alison Richards, former health and science journalist
