Susan Sontag
Susan Sontag (1933–2004) was the author of four novels, a collection of stories, several plays, and nine works of criticism, among them On Photography, which won the National Books Critics Circle Award for criticism. In 2001, Sontag was awarded the Jerusalem Prize for the body of her work.
David Rieff is the author of Swimming in a Sea of Death: A Son’s Memoir and the editor of the journals and notebooks of Susan Sontag, of which two volumes have appeared to date. His many other books include At the Point of a Gun: Democratic Dreams and Armed Intervention and A Bed for the Night: Humanitarianism in Crisis. He lives in New York.
