Jeff Lemire
Jeff Lemire is a New York Times bestselling author and the creator of acclaimed graphic novels such as Sweet Tooth, Essex County, The Underwater Welder, and Trillium. His upcoming projects include the original graphic novel Roughneck and the sci-fi series Descender for Image Comics (with Dustin Nguyen) and Black Hammer for Dark Horse Comics (with Dean Ormston). Lemire has also written for DC Comics (Green Arrow, Justice League, Animal Man) and Marvel Comics (Hawkeye).
He is a two-time recipient of the Schuster Award for Best Canadian Cartoonist (2008, 2013), and has also received The Doug Wright Award for Best Emerging Talent and the American Library Association’s Alex Award. Lemire has been nominated for multiple Eisner, Harvey, and Shuster Awards. In 2010, Essex County was recognized as one of the five Essential Canadian Novels of the Decade. He currently resides in Toronto with his wife and son.
Tate Brombal is a comic book writer based in Toronto. His comic series House of Slaughter (BOOM! Studios) with artist Chris Shehan, a spin-off from James Tynion IV & Werther Dell’Edera’s Something Is Killing the Children, debuted in 2021. His Eisner-Nominated mini-series Barbalien: Red Planet, co-created with Eisner-Winning artist Gabriel Hernandez Walta, was also released in 2021 as part of Jeff Lemire and Dean Ormston’s Black Hammer universe. Brombal has several other comics scheduled for release from 2022 onward. He is a graduate of Ryerson University’s Radio & Television Arts - Media Production program, where he specialized in screenwriting.
When he is not writing comics, Brombal enjoys reading, drinking tea, and cooking from his extensive collection of cookbooks.
