About The Author

David Duchovny

David Duchovny is an award-winning actor, writer, director, New York Times Best-Selling author, and singer-songwriter. He is widely recognized for his iconic roles as FBI Agent Fox Mulder in FOX’s The X-Files and Hank Moody in Showtime’s Californication.

With an acting career spanning over two decades, Duchovny is a two-time Golden Globe-winner and four-time Emmy nominee. He was recently seen in a guest-starring role in Netflix’s The Chair, created by Amanda Peet and starring Sandra Oh. Upcoming projects include Judd Apatow’s highly anticipated Netflix comedy, The Bubble, and Kenya Barris’s Netflix comedy, You People, alongside a notable cast.

Duchovny is also a prolific author. His fourth novel, Truly Like Lightning, was published in February 2021, offering a meditation on family, religion, sex, greed, human nature, and the environment. His previous novels include the New York Times Best-Seller Holy Cow, *Bucky Fcking Dent, and Miss Subways. All of his books have been published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux.

He recently released his first Audible Original, The Reservoir, which he both wrote and performed. This work is a darkly funny caper exploring conspiracy and madness in the early days of the pandemic. Akashic Books will publish the hardcover of The Reservoir alongside Duchovny’s chapbook Poems, Lyrics, Flip in June 2022.

Following the success of Truly Like Lightning, Duchovny is partnering with Showtime to develop a television series based on the novel. He will co-write and executive produce the adaptation, and will also star in the series.

As a musician, Duchovny has released three studio albums: Hell or Highwater (2015), Every Third Thought (2018), and Gesture/and (2021), and has toured globally.

Duchovny grew up in New York City. He graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in English literature and later received an ABD in English Literature from Yale University.
