About The Author

Kentaro Miura

Kentaro Miura debuted Berserk Prototype, a 48-page manga, in 1988 while attending Nihon University. This work served as an introduction to the fantasy world that would become Berserk. Berserk Prototype earned Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School.

In 1989, after receiving his doctorate, Miura began work on King of Wolves, a project based on a script by Buronson, the writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist Of The North Star).

The first volume of Berserk was released in 1990, achieving limited success initially. Miura also collaborated with Buronson on a manga titled Japan. Miura’s fame grew significantly with the “The Golden Age” story arc of Berserk, and the immense success of this masterpiece established him as one of the most prominent contemporary manga artists.

In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk, which aired that year on NTV. The Berserk franchise has since spawned a wide array of merchandise, including statues, action figures, key rings, video games, and a trading card game.

In 2002, Kentaro Miura received second place in the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize of Excellence for Berserk. He resides in Tokyo, Japan.
