About The Author

Kentaro Miura

Kentaro Miura debuted his 48-page manga Berserk Prototype in 1988 while attending Nihon University. This work served as an introduction to the fantasy world of Berserk and earned Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School.

After receiving his doctorate degree in 1989, Miura began a project titled King of Wolves, based on a script by Buronson, the writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist Of The North Star).

In 1990, the first volume of Berserk was released, achieving limited success. Miura again collaborated with Buronson on a manga entitled Japan. Miura’s fame grew significantly after Berserk began its “The Golden Age” story arc. The immense success of this masterpiece established him as one of the most prominent contemporary manga artists.

In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk, which aired that year on NTV. The series has also spawned a wide array of merchandise, including statues, action figures, key rings, video games, and a trading card game.

In 2002, Kentaro Miura received second place in the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize of Excellence for Berserk. He resides in Tokyo, Japan.
