Sophie Haydock is an author, editor, and journalist. She is the curator of Folkestone Book Festival.

Her debut novel, The Flames, which focuses on the women who posed for artist Egon Schiele in Vienna, was recognized as one of the Best Historical Fiction Books of 2022 by The Times. The novel was longlisted for the HWA Debut Crown Award, and its Italian translation, Le Fiamme, received the Premio Letterario Edoardo Kihlgren for debut novels.

Haydock has contributed to publications such as the Sunday Times, Financial Times, and The Guardian. She previously worked for the Sunday Times Short Story Award and is an associate director of the Word Factory.
