Eric Hill
Eric Hill OBE (1927-2014) was the creator of beloved children’s character Spot.
He began his artistic career as an art studio messenger before becoming a cartoonist and eventually, an art director at a leading advertising agency.
In 1978, Eric created a story about a small puppy to read to his son at bedtime, and Spot was born. He published Where’s Spot? in 1980. This interactive children’s book featured a pioneering lift-the-flap format, a simple story, and charming, quirky illustrations.
Its immediate success inspired him to become a full-time author. Spot books have since been enjoyed by children worldwide, alongside audio books, animations, toys, and games.
