Matthew A. Cherry Matthew A. Cherry was born in Chicago and played American football in the NFL as a wide receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cincinnati Bengals, Carolina Panthers, and Baltimore Ravens. He has since dedicated himself to directing music videos, feature films, and short films, including Hair Love, which this book is based on.
Vashti Harrison Vashti Harrison is the author-illustrator of Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History, which was a New York Times bestseller and an NAACP Image Award winner. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she majored in Media Studies and Studio Art, and holds a master’s degree in Film and Video from CalArts. Using her dual talents, she is passionate about creating beautiful stories in both the audiovisual world and in books.
