Brenda Jones
Brenda Jones is best known for her fifteen-year tenure as communications director for Congressman John Lewis. She penned all of his published opinions, statements, and speeches, from introductions of U.S. Presidents to commencement addresses and reflections on his civil rights legacy. Jones also collaborated with Congressman Lewis on his NAACP Image Award-winning book, Across That Bridge: A Vision for Change and the Future of America. She has prior experience in commercial television news and public broadcasting.
Krishan Trotman is the co-author of the Queens of the Resistance series and Vice President & Publisher of Legacy Lit, an imprint at Hachette Book Group in New York. She has been recognized by The New York Times and Essence magazine as one of the few African American publishing executives, and New York magazine named her as part of “Publishing’s New Power Club.” Trotman has also been featured in Salon, Shondaland, Cheddar TV, and MSN. With over fifteen years dedicated to publishing books by and about multicultural voices and social justice, she has worked with prominent figures such as John Lewis, Stephanie Land, Malcolm Nance, Zerlina Maxwell, Ibtihaj Muhammad, Al Roker, Ed Gordon, and Lindy West. Trotman describes herself as the “Beyonce of Books” and is a mother to her son, Bleu.
