Eugene T. Gendlin, Ph.D.

Eugene T. Gendlin, Ph.D., of the University of Chicago, is a distinguished figure in the field of psychotherapy, recognized by the American Psychological Association on three occasions for his development of experiential psychotherapy. He was the recipient of the first Distinguished Professional Psychologist of the Year award from the Clinical Division. In 2000, he and the Focusing Institute received an award from the Humanistic Division.

Dr. Gendlin was the founder and long-time editor of the Clinical Division journal Psychotherapy: Theory, Research, and Practice. His seminal work, Focusing, has achieved remarkable success, selling over 400,000 copies and being translated into twelve languages.
