About The Author
Val Wood
Val Wood is one of the UK’s most popular authors, a status she achieved after winning the Catherine Cookson Prize for Fiction for her debut novel, The Hungry Tide.
Born in the mining town of Castleford, Val moved to East Yorkshire as a child. She has lived in Hull and rural Holderness, the settings for many of her novels, and currently resides in the market town of Beverley.
When not writing, Val dedicates her time to promoting libraries and supporting various charities. In recognition of her service and dedication to literature, she was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Hull in 2017.
