Eric Hill
Eric Hill OBE (1927-2014) was the creator of the beloved children’s character Spot. He began his artistic journey as an art studio messenger, transitioning to a career as a cartoonist and later serving as an art director at a prominent advertising agency.
In 1978, Eric conceived a bedtime story for his son about a small puppy, giving birth to the character Spot. The book Where’s Spot? was published in 1980, featuring an innovative lift-the-flap format, a simple narrative, and endearing, unique illustrations. Its immediate popularity inspired Eric to pursue a full-time career as an author. The Spot books have since been cherished by children globally and have expanded into audio books, animations, toys, and games.
