Eric Hill
Eric Hill OBE (1927-2014) was the creator of the beloved children’s character Spot. He began his artistic career as an art studio messenger, progressing to become a cartoonist and later an art director at a prominent advertising agency.
In 1978, Eric conceived a story about a small puppy to read to his son at bedtime, and Spot was created. He published Where’s Spot? in 1980, an interactive children’s book featuring an innovative lift-the-flap format, a simple narrative, and charming, distinctive illustrations. The book’s immediate success led Eric to become a full-time author. Since then, Spot books have been cherished by children globally, with adaptations including audiobooks, animation, toys, and games.
