Eric Hill
Eric Hill OBE (1927-2014) was the creator of beloved children’s character Spot. He began his artistic career as an art studio messenger, then transitioned to become a cartoonist, and eventually served as an art director at a prominent advertising agency.
In 1978, Eric conceived a story about a small puppy to share with his son at bedtime, thus giving birth to Spot. He published “Where’s Spot?” in 1980. This interactive children’s book featured an innovative lift-the-flap format, complemented by a simple narrative and endearing, distinctive illustrations. The book’s instant success prompted him to dedicate himself fully to writing. Since then, Spot books have delighted children globally and have been adapted into audio books, animations, toys, and games.
