Eric Hill
Eric Hill OBE (1927-2014) was the creator of the beloved children’s character Spot. He began his artistic career as an art studio messenger, progressing to become a cartoonist and later, an art director at a prominent advertising agency. In 1978, Eric conceived a bedtime story about a small puppy for his son, thus creating Spot.
His book, Where’s Spot?, was published in 1980. This interactive children’s book featured a groundbreaking lift-the-flap format, complemented by a simple narrative and endearing, distinctive illustrations. The immediate acclaim for the book inspired him to pursue writing full-time, and Spot books have since delighted children globally, spawning audio books, animations, toys, and games.
