Hill, Eric
Eric Hill OBE (1927-2014) was the creator of the beloved children’s character Spot. He began his artistic career as an art studio messenger, progressing to become a cartoonist and eventually an art director at a prominent advertising agency.
In 1978, Eric conceived a bedtime story for his son about a small puppy, thus creating Spot. The interactive children’s book Where’s Spot? was published in 1980, featuring an innovative lift-the-flap format, a simple narrative, and charming, distinctive illustrations. Its immediate success prompted him to dedicate himself to writing full-time. The Spot books, along with audiobooks, animations, toys, and games, have since been cherished by children globally.
