About The Author

J.M. Barrie

James Matthew Barrie

Born in 1860 near Dundee, Scotland, James Matthew Barrie was the son of a weaver. He received his education at Glasgow Academy, Dumfries Academy, and Edinburgh University.

After a period working as a journalist in Nottingham, Barrie moved to London, where he contributed to various newspapers and journals. Between 1891 and 1902, he published several successful novels and plays.

His most famous work, Peter Pan, was first performed as a play in 1904. While the initial concept for Peter Pan appeared in his earlier adult novel, The Little White Bird, the complete story for children was not published until 1911.

J. M. Barrie passed away in 1937.
