Hudson Talbott also illustrated Show Way (by Jacqueline Woodson), a Newbery Honor book, and Leonardo’s Horse (by Jean Fritz), an ALA Notable Book and a VOYA Honor Book. For United Tweets of America, he was inspired by the birds coming to his feeders, who also doubled as models for several of the state birds.
