About The Author
Peter Clifton
Peter Clifton
Professor Peter Clifton is a high-profile clinical and nutrition researcher with over 20 years of experience. He joined Baker IDI in July 2009. While at CSIRO, he co-authored The CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet books. His primary research interests lie in the use of diet for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease and its risk factors, including obesity and diabetes.
Professor Clifton maintains a clinical practice specializing in lipid management at Flinders Medical Centre and in diabetes and cardiovascular disease at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He has authored articles for newspapers and medical magazines, discussion papers for food companies, and books for the public. He serves on the editorial board of four journals and is a reviewer for 20 others, as well as for grant bodies in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Israel, and Austria. He is a Professor of Nutrition at the University of South Australia.
Manny Noakes
Professor Manny Noakes is responsible for Capability Management at CSIRO Animal, Food and Health Sciences and is the Stream Leader for the Diet and Lifestyle Programs. With over 30 years of experience in nutrition, she has published more than 100 scientific papers. Her research interests include diets for weight management, particularly the role of protein and other dietary factors in appetite regulation.
Professor Noakes co-authored The CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet books and has received several awards for research excellence, including two CSIRO Medals and an Outstanding Achievement Alumni Award from Flinders University.
