Frank Shaw
Frank and Joan Shaw live in Hinckley in Leicestershire. They have four children and nine grandchildren. They were born and raised in Deal, Kent, where they spent the war.
The idea for the “We Remember” series originated when their granddaughter inquired about the Second World War for a school project. Frank and Joan recognized the importance of preserving such memories and subsequently wrote to 700 local newspapers across the country, requesting personal accounts. They received a substantial number of responses, which they then self-published into five hardback books, successfully raising over £100,000 for the Royal British Legion.
Ebury Press is now reissuing these books over 20 years later, with all royalties continuing to benefit the Royal British Legion.
