About The Author
Peter Langlands
Peter’s lifelong interest in the outdoors has led him to explore a wide variety of environments, from alpine to coastal locations, each offering a diverse range of foraged foods. After studying natural sciences at Canterbury University and completing postgraduate papers in zoology, his passion for foraging transformed him from a zoologist into an accidental botanist.
Peter is now one of Aotearoa’s only licensed professional foragers. He sources wild produce for chefs across the country, including the innovative Amisfield. He also leads foraging workshops and shares his enthusiasm for the subject through his social media.
Throughout his career, Peter has compiled Aotearoa’s largest database of wild foraged species. He collaborates with international foragers to expand the understanding and application of wild foods. From his base in Otautahi, Christchurch, Peter continues to discover and explore the abundant wild food offerings of Aotearoa with his partner.
