Seattle-born Diana Talley is retired after 40+ years in maritime pursuits: commercial fishing, sailing, off-shore adventuring, boatbuilding, rowing, sailboat racing, and as a boat-shop owner for decades. She and her partner raised their daughter aboard for approximately 10,000 nautical miles. As a single mother, her boatbuilding career grew in Port Townsend, Washington. She found love and partnership there, spending 25 years with Rick. When Rick was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s, they closed the shop, sold their boat, and spent his last 4 years living well. Diana now donates time to boat projects, supporting young women in the maritime trades to honor the help she received early in her career. She has six grandchildren and often works with them in her shop.
