Description

For readers of Dog Man and Bad Guys comes a fun and zany early graphic novel series starring a crew of scissor-wielding hairdresser superheroes saving the city from evildoers bent on creating havoc and bad haircuts.

The Snips is a superhero series filled with action, adventure, comedy, and hijinks for readers who love Dav Pilkey and animated television shows like Scooby-Doo and Guess Who. The Snips aren't your average heroes - Casco, Patty, Letty, Nubes, and Flealix the Dog make up Scissor City's beloved crew of crime-fighting, mystery-solving barbers! But not everyone in Scissor City is a fan of their dazzling dos and wacky hair inventions. Buzz and Boffo Buzzington, the descendants of the creator of the buzz cut, have been desperately trying to find a way to overthrow the Snips, restore Buzz Corp-their family's company-to the top of the hair-cutting world, and finally earn the respect of their father Biff Buzzington Sr. Can the Snips keep the citizens of Scissor City safe from the hijinks of the Bad Buzz Boyz and still give amazing hairdos?

This easy-to-read graphic novel series will be perfect for kids 7-10, those who are reluctant readers or newly independent readers, as well as kids who just like jokes, puns, and outrageous humor.

Critic Reviews

"With his usual irreverent flair, Raúl the Third... gives readers a hilarious, thrilling showdown between the two barber groups, putting all the hairdos of Scissors City at stake. The dynamic illustrations (in explosive colors by Bay) are jam-packed with action shots, references to classic comics, and clever details that merit multiple looks. Spanish is naturally incorporated and often translated into English, and an appended "Snippets from Flealix" provides the story of the real-life world record holder for most haircuts in one day."
--Horn Book
"Much like Dav Pilkey's "Dog Man" or Aaron Blabey's "Bad Guys" series, this graphic novel plays on the superhero genre with humor and kid-friendly action. The illustration elevates this concept even further by using character poses and designs inspired by popular comics of the 1970s and 1980s....A fresh look at the early reader superhero genre with unbeatable art that pushes boundaries."--SLJ
"Raúl's signature bright, bold art style is blended with comic-book formatting that jumps off the page....A wildly enjoyable reminder that the greatest success comes not from winning, but from bringing support and joy to the community."--Booklist
"Author/illustrator Raúl the Third and returning colorist Bay weave an adventure that's packed with punny humor, hair-larious worldbuilding, and richly hued artwork.... A shear feast of an adventure."--Kirkus
"Humorous puns, consistent worldbuilding, and quirky conflicts make this a rollicking crime-fighting adventure."--Publishers Weekly
