This is a replica of the original stargate from Stargate SG-1, also known as the Alpha Gate. The gates were developed over 50 million years ago by the Ancients and can be used to open wormholes between different planets and even different galaxies. The Ancients called them Astria Porta and seeded them throughout the Pegasus and Milky Way galaxies. When the Goa’uld took control of them they called them Chappa’ai, which Daniel Jackson translated as “stargate”.
