W.B. Yeats
William Butler Yeats is generally considered to be Ireland’s greatest poet, living or dead, and one of the most influential figures in 20th-century literature. He was born in Dublin in 1865 and died in France in 1939. A key figure in the Irish Literary Revival, Yeats helped found the Abbey Theatre and served as a senator in the Irish Free State. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1923.
