About The Author

Wallace J. Nichols

Wallace “J.” Nichols, Ph.D., is a Research Associate at the California Academy of Sciences, Senior Fellow at The Center for the Blue Economy, and co/founder and advisor to numerous leading organizations–including The Blue Mind Movement. J’s research, expeditions, and work as a lecturer and guide have taken him to coasts and waterways across North, Central and South America, to Asia, Africa, Australia, and Europe, where he continually finds that the emotional connection to waters of all kinds–rather than force or financial gain–is what keeps his colleagues and collaborators working hard to understand and passionately restore our blue planet. Outside Magazine has called him “a visionary”, while his tireless efforts to make #bluemind common knowledge and practice, advance human wellness, and improve environmental health have been broadcast via all major media platforms around the world.
