Val Wood
Val Wood is one of the UK’s most popular authors. She won the Catherine Cookson Prize for Fiction for her first novel, The Hungry Tide.
Born in Castleford, Val moved to East Yorkshire as a child and has lived in Hull and rural Holderness, the settings for many of her novels. She now resides in the market town of Beverley.
When she isn’t writing, Val dedicates her time to promoting libraries and supporting various charities. In 2017, she received an honorary doctorate from the University of Hull for her service and dedication to literature.
