Tove Jansson
Tove Jansson (1914-2001) was a Swedish-speaking Finnish painter, illustrator, and writer, best known as the creator of the Moomins. The Moomins are a family of white, roundish fantastical creatures with large snouts and a wide circle of friends. Jansson’s first Moomin story was published in 1945, and she subsequently wrote eight more chapter books, three picture books, and numerous comic strip stories featuring the beloved characters.
