Critics Review
“Tonia [Laird] is a powerhouse.” — Katherena Vermette, award-winning author of The Break and The Strangers“At its core, Seventhblade is a story of a mother’s love, her need for justice, and the discovery of her roots. Drawing on her Indigenous heritage, Tonia Laird weaves the tale of T’Rayles, a half-soul with a mysterious past, set in a world where gods roam freely. Deftly written with intricate worldbuilding and vivid characters, Seventhblade is fantasy at its finest … and I need a sequel!” — Allison Pang, writer of the Abby Sinclair urban fantasy series“Tonia Laird tells a gripping story of grief, magic, and revenge while exploring the impact of generational trauma on a colonized people. At times brutal, nuanced, and compassionate, Laird writes with confidence and gives us a fantastic hero in T’Rayles.” — Trick Weekes, author of The Palace Job“Laird delivers a gripping tale with a strong message that fantasy readers who enjoy action and adventure will relish.” — Publishers Weekly“Seventhblade captivated me from the beginning…I loved a lot of things about this book—the older protagonist, explorations of grief and revenge, complicated family relationships, action-packed scenes, interesting magic, and the inclusion of the Northern Michif language.” — Helena Ramsaroop
