What They're Saying
Critics Review
“A rocket ride to football stardom in the high times of LA, Todd’s story will blow you away.” —Troy Polamalu, Pro Football Hall of Fame “Todd is an artist and an amazing football player who exceeded the expectations surrounding him on the field. He became the number one high school football player in the nation, led USC to a Rose Bowl win as a freshman, and joined an NFL team when he was barely a man … but at what cost? Marinovich will shock you with its mind-bending insights.” —Marcus Allen, Pro Football Hall of Fame and Raiders Running Back “Todd’s story is both tragic and inspirational. As a player and coach, I never stopped hoping the world would see and know the depth and breadth of his talents. He’s deserving of our love and compassion for never giving up on his journey to heal.” —Fred Biletnikoff, Pro Football Hall of Fame and former Raiders Coach “A revealing read from start to finish, Todd is profoundly honest about his life and his struggles. If you follow football and the players behind the masks, this is a must-read.” —Tim Brown, Pro Football Hall of Fame and Raiders Wide Receiver “There is no lack of sports books on shelves, but there are few that offer Marinovich’s insights about childhood trauma and elite athletics with brutal honesty and humility forged by more than 35 years of addiction and self-discovery.” —Terry Robiskie, former NFL Coach “Todd Marinovich rightfully evokes controversy with a name attached to provocative headlines. From his unconventional upbringing, rise to USC, and time in the NFL, Todd doesn’t hold back in Marinovich.” —Pat Harlow, former NFL Offensive Tackle “A gripping and brutally honest story of incredible highs and bottomless lows, told with integrity from the man who lived it all. Todd Marinovich squandered what should have been a legendary football career, but, ultimately, his willingness to share the details of his life journey will prove all the more important and lasting.” —Jeff Pearlman, New York Times Bestselling Author, The Last Folk Hero
About The Author
Todd Marinovich
Todd Marinovich was a football media sensation for the last quarter of the twentieth century. In high school, he was the top player in the nation. He was also the star quarterback at the University of Southern California, leading the Trojans to a Rose Bowl victory his freshman year. Selected in the first round of the NFL draft as the first college sophomore in history to declare, he joined the Los Angeles Raiders, playing from 1991 to 1993. Leaving football due to drug addiction, he returned to the sport in 1999, earning Arena Football League All-Rookie team honors in 2000. A man who brings lightness and humor to even the most difficult trials in life, Todd openly shares his story to inspire others. He encourages audiences to embrace their truth, live out loud unapologetically, and pick themselves back up after inevitable falls.
