Systematic Security

Born in Afghanistan in 1976, Timur Qader, the youngest of three, left the country in 1978 due to the coup d’etat and Russian invasion. His father secured a position with the United Nations, negotiating terms for the UN to extract his wife and four children to meet him at his first assignment. For the next ten years, the family lived in several countries, experiencing diverse cultures.

In 1985, Timur’s father was reassigned to headquarters in New York, and the family moved to Westchester, New York. After graduating from Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak, NY, Timur attended the University of Buffalo, earning a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He then moved to the Capital Region of New York (Albany), working in telecommunications with Bell Atlantic, which later became Verizon. He completed his MBA and MS in Information Security and met his wife, Vanessa Qader, with whom he has two sons, Xavier and Darian Qader.

Over twenty-five years, Timur has held two CISO positions and worked for the security think tank Center for Internet Security (CIS). He dedicates his time to family, exercise, and education. In 2022, Timur received his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which he considers his greatest achievement besides family, and he continues to practice the martial art as part of his exercise regimen.
