Description

Dazzling illustrated poetry from the magical mind of Tim Minchin. This is his first ever book and features a foreword from Neil Gaiman.

A storm is brewing in the confines of a London dinner party. Small talk quickly descends into a verbal and intellectual battle between science and belief, as comedian Tim goes head to head with the mysterious fifth guest at the table - a hippy named Storm.

With stunning original artwork, Tim's sublime ranty beat-poem weaves through the world we live in, where alternative medicine is given credence and public funding, psychics have primetime TV exposure and people are happy with mystery rather than answers.

While Storm herself may not be converted, audiences from London to Sydney have been won over by Tim's lyrical wonders and the timely message of the piece in a society where science is attacked as the enemy of belief. STORM is the illustrated book born from the acclaimed internet sensation - the animation that has become an anthem for critical thinking worldwide, attracting over three million views. Now fully reimagined, STORM is a masterpiece that sparkles with beauty, wit, reason and rationality.

Critic Reviews

“A glorious ode to critical thinking”

You'd imagine that any attempt to gild Tim's lily would end in disaster, but STORM succeeds on every level. An absolute treat - Rufus Hound

Back Cover

A storm is brewing at a London dinner party. When Tim meets the mysterious fifth guest at the table, small talk descends into a battle between science and belief. Audiences around the world have been wowed by the lyrical wonders of Storm in its viral smash hit animation form. Now fully reimagined with original artwork, this sparkling ode to scepticism by multi-award-winning comedian and musician Tim Minchin is brought to life for the first time in a book. "Probably the greatest and most important thing ever published in the history of humankind to date and in the future. And it's very funny." Jonathan Ross, Broadcaster and Author " Storm perfectly captures the twisted, disfigured sack of pity and incomprehension my face becomes when attempting to present facts to the irrational." Prof Brian Cox, Physicist and Broadcaster "Tim Minchin's Storm is a masterpiece of poetry, songwriting, performance. It's one of my favorite things in the world. The world sorely needs more articulate civilized rants like this. In any form." Adam Savage, Mythbuster "Tim Minchin is a prophet and a poet, and Storm is his masterpiece: a passionate love letter to reason that is as hilarious as it is profound, as savage as it is touching. Flawlessly written and divinely illustrated, this is a truly unique and special book. And if you happen to be a friend of mine, you should put it down right now, because this is what I'm buying you for Christmas." Jane Goldman, Screenwriter "I have lived Storm , repeatedly. Minchin is a god among dorks." Ben Goldacre, Author and Physician
