Draw 100: Animals

As part of the Draw 100 series from Search Press come Draw 100: Flowers and Draw 100: Animals. These books are aimed at the complete beginner, promising to take you ‘from basic shapes to amazing drawings in super-easy steps.’

Draw 100: Animals is written by art writer and lecturer, Susie Hodge and award-winning artist, Jonathan Newey. Each of the featured animals is broken down into three or four simple stages, with no written text. Using this tried and tested formula, budding artists will be able to produce striking drawings and paintings with ease.

This book would appeal to young budding artists, it has some fantastic structural diagrams to enable the reader to recreate the images using a step-by-step procedural method. All in all it would make a fantastic gift along side a sketch pad and some good quality coloured pencils.

Susie Hodge has written over 100 books on art, art history and artistic techniques. In addition, she hosts lectures, talks and practical workshops, and regularly appears on television and radio, as well as in documentaries. She has twice been named the No. 1 art writer by The Independent.

Jonathan Newey is an award-winning artist with extensive experience in many drawing and painting mediums including coloured pencil. He comes from a long line of artists and studied art and design at the London College of Printing. He is a City & Guilds qualified teacher and has over 20 years’ experience of teaching in adult education. He has many drawings and paintings in collections both nationally and internationally and has demonstrated for most of the top manufacturers in the UK. Jonathan is an active promoter of the coloured pencil as a serious drawing medium and is a founder member of the UK Coloured Pencil Society.
