A truly outstanding field guide … It is small, has extensive color illustrations of all the birds, a complete set of maps, and all the information needed on plumage, distribution, habitat, elevation, and behavior to sort out the species. It really is excellent … By virtue of its simplicity and thoroughness, this is an outstanding field guide. I really cannot wait to take it into the forest and give it a field test. Myers is clearly an expert on the birds of Borneo, and she has gathered a lot of information together. Birds of Borneo offers sound scholarship, solid coverage of subspecies, concise general range and status descriptions, fine treatment of habitat and behavior, and good illustrations. I'm delighted at its publication and look forward to using it in the field. Field Guides Inc.
Susan Myers is an experienced bird tour leader, specialising in leading tours in southern Asia and Japan.
Susan grew up in Australia and has been travelling and birding in Asia for more than 30 years. A particular fascination with the tropical forests of the Sundaic Region led to her writing the Field Guide to the Birds of Borneo, followed by a photographic guide to the region (both published by Helm).
Many years of exploration dealing with heat, humidity and biting invertebrates have not dimmed her enthusiasm for the amazing biodiversity and wonderful birds of this special region.
