Critic Reviews

Prelude to Sophie's War - Reviewed in Canada on January 11, 2021

The historical detail in this book was wonderful and captivating. Whether Sophie is new to you or you've read about her in The Blue Pendant and Ruins in Silk, she'll immediately steal your heart. She's just such a determined and loveable soul that you want the best for her. The best for anyone doesn't always come during a period of war and this is true for dear Sophie. Jennings creates a rich London and hospital atmosphere where you can almost smell the antiseptic and taste the damp air. I don't want to give any spoilers away but I know you'll fall in love with her as I did.
