About The Author
Steven Kramer
Steven Kramer, PhD
Professor Emeritus in the School of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at San Diego State University (SDSU). He was a faculty member and administrator at SDSU from 1985 to 2016, serving as department chair from 1990 to 2001 and Co-director of the Audiology Doctoral (AuD) Program (jointly offered by SDSU and the University of California San Diego (UCSD)) from 2003 to 2016. Dr. Kramer earned his master’s and doctoral degrees in audiology and hearing science from the University of Florida and was a licensed and certified audiologist for approximately 40 years. Prior to his tenure at SDSU, he was a clinical faculty member at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He has taught a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses, including hearing science, diagnostics, medical audiology, evoked potentials, and psychoacoustics.
David K. Brown, PhD
Professor in the School of Audiology at Pacific University since its inception in 2012. He is also the Director of the Audiology Simulation Lab (SIMLab) at Pacific. Previously, he served as Director of Audiological Research for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Assistant Professor in the Departments of Otolaryngology and Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Brown has been a licensed and certified audiologist specializing in pediatrics for over 35 years. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in acoustics, anatomy and physiology, audiometry, cochlear implants, evoked potentials, otoacoustic emissions, pediatrics, and research fundamentals.
Laura Dreisbach
Professor and Co-director of the Audiology Doctoral (AuD) Program, a joint program between San Diego State University (SDSU) and the University of California San Diego (UCSD). She joined SDSU in 2000 to contribute to the development of the joint doctoral program. Dr. Dreisbach directs the Auditory Physiology and Psychoacoustics Laboratory at SDSU and instructs graduate courses in diagnostics, instrumentation, anatomy and physiology, evoked potentials, otoacoustic emissions, and pediatrics. She has held a license and certification as an audiologist since 1991.
