Steve Gerber
Steve Gerber (1947-2008)
Steve Gerber first gained recognition for his writing on Defenders, where he infused the unconventional team with a unique perspective. He also introduced the iconic Howard the Duck in Adventure into Fear. His prolific 1970s output for Marvel Comics included scripts for Iron Man and Sub-Mariner, among others. Beyond Marvel, Gerber is celebrated for his work on DC’s Phantom Zone and Eclipse Comics’ Destroyer Duck, showcasing his versatility and distinctive storytelling.
Val Mayerik
Val Mayerik, a non-traditional comic artist, established his presence in the industry through various Marvel Comics titles. He began his Marvel career in 1973 with “Brak the Barbarian” in Chamber of Chills. Mayerik contributed to titles such as Supernatural Thrillers, Creatures on the Loose, and Conan before taking over the “Man-Thing” feature in Adventure into Fear, where he was instrumental in introducing Howard the Duck. Following his impactful tenure at Marvel in the 1970s, Mayerik has continued to create artwork for numerous other comic book publishers and role-playing game companies.
